Your adventure begins with an exhilarating ski plane flight from Mount Cook airport to the head of the glacier, some 30km distant. The peaks of the Main Divide and the bulk of Aoraki /Mount Cook tower above, dominating the skyline.
After pausing to take in the spectacle of the glacier nevé, you begin the first of the two longest ski runs in the Southern Hemisphere.
Your professional guide will lead you through fantastic ice formations: the seracs, caverns and icefalls. Then you cruise down to expanses of untracked snow.
Another ski plane flight takes you to a new landing area where you rest to take a delicious picnic lunch before starting the second incredible run.
Through the day you will learn from your guide about the forces that have shaped and formed this dynamic landscape. Making turns down through the icefalls, to the open snowfields and your waiting ski plane completes this incredible experience.
